Whenever you travel on a plane, either long or morning flight, it only makes sense that you might order a tea or coffee during the trip. These comforting, warm beverages are a part of a morning routine for almost all of us.
So, did you know that there are reasons why not to order these beverages when you are traveling on a plane, and I bet you won’t do so ever again?
According to one flight of defendant “Flight attendants will not drink hot water on the plane. They will not drink plain coffee, and they will not drink plain tea,” as reported by Business Insider.
You might be asking yourself why? Well, it is because the water on a plane is sourced from a hose/tap system, and not a bottle as you may have thought.
A recent examination revealed that an astonishing number of plain water supplies tested positive to bacteria such as E. coli as well as harmful chemicals. According to one study, one in eight planes failed to meet the agency standards for water supply.
According to infectious disease specialist Dr Cedric Spak at Baylor University Medical Center, people with weak immune systems should avoid in-flight beverages. He also writes that parents should “think twice” before filling their baby’s water bottle with airplane tap water.
To avoid getting sick simply go for something that comes in a sealed packaging or fill up your own water bottle at the gate before departure.
