February 21, 2019 By Mike Thurstone

Garlic is without a doubt one of the most widely used vegetable around the world. Mainly due to its unique and delicious taste, but also for its numerous health benefits.

Medical News Today reports:

“Garlic has been used all over the world for thousands of years. Records indicate that garlic was in use when the Giza pyramids were built, about 5,000 years ago.

Richard S. Rivlin wrote in the Journal of Nutrition that the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates (circa. 460-370 BC), known today as “the father of Western medicine,” prescribed garlic for a wide range of conditions and illnesses. Hippocrates promoted the use of garlic for treating respiratory problems, parasites, poor digestion, and fatigue.

The original Olympic athletes in Ancient Greece were given garlic — possibly the earliest example of “performance enhancing” agents used in sports. From Ancient Egypt, garlic spread to the advanced ancient civilizations of the Indus Valley (Pakistan and western India today). From there, it made its way to China.”

Garlic is packed with minerals such as iron, calcium, copper, phosphorus, potassium, and manganese, vitamins A, B-complex and C, essential oils amino acids, glycosides, and the unique essential trace minerals like selenium, germanium and tellurium.

Garlic is also packed with an antioxidant called allium, plus 12 other antioxidants.

Hence, it has potent antimicrobial characteristics that make it great against bacteria, viruses, fungi, intestinal parasites, yeast, etc. It strengthens our immune system, and the high antioxidants content prevent free radical damage.

Consuming garlic regularly will help you get the following benefits:

  • Common Fights cold: Garlic is a potent antibiotic that eases congestion and relieves the symptoms of common colds.

  • Passing Wind: Small amounts of garlic relieve gas in the stomach.
  • Good Cholesterol: Garlic juice reduces the oxidation of blood cholesterol and the buildup of plaque in arteries, reducing the risks of heart diseases.

WebMD also reports the following uses of this fantastic herb:

“ Treatment of fever, coughs, headache, stomachache, sinus congestion, gout, joint pain, hemorrhoids, asthma, bronchitis, shortness of breath, low blood sugar, snakebites, diarrhea and bloody diarrhea, tuberculosis, bloody urine, a serious nose and throat infection called diphtheria, whooping cough, tooth sensitivity, stomach inflammation (gastritis), scalp ringworm, and a sexually transmitted disease called vaginal trichomoniasis. It is also used for fighting stress and fatigue.

Some people apply garlic oil to their skin or nails to treat fungal infections, warts, and corns. It is also applied to the skin for hair loss and thrush.”

You can add garlic juice in your favourite juice recipes or you can also eat it raw daily. Note, avoid eating it on an empty stomach, as it can be hard on your stomach. Do not consume more than two cloves per day, as it is a very strong medicinal herb.

Before bed, you can finely slice a clove of garlic and leave it exposed to the air for a few minutes to release the enzyme alliinase, and then swallow it with warm water. For taste, you can also add organic honey. It will detoxify your body, viruses fight bacteria, and fungi, prevent cancer, and help with digestion.

The sulfur elements in garlic will assist in liver and blood detoxification, as well as other heavy metals that will be flushed out the next day. If you want to avoid the garlic taste in your mouth, just swallow it without chewing.

When you wake up the next day, drink a large glass of warm water. The unpleasant strong garlic smell of your first bowel movement will be a sign of removal of all harmful substances from your system.
