How To Grow Endless Supply of Lemon At Your Home with Just One Seed

January 31, 2019 By Mike Thurstone

The saying goes: “If life gives you lemons, then make lemonade.” But what if you grow your own lemons instead?

The following will demonstrate how you can grow your lemon tree inside your home using just the seed from a lemon! But before we continue, let’s get into some of the health benefits of lemons.

Although lemons aren’t usually the first choice of fruit when you’re looking for a snack, there is no disputing its powerful health advantages.

Firstly, lemons are incredibly rich in vitamin C, making it a great for treating common sicknesses such as the cold and flu. Some less known truths about vitamin C is that it has also been discovered to treat more severe health conditions, such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Vitamin C also helps to reduce inflammation and the damaging effects of free radicals in the body.

Here is How To Grow A Lemon Tree

What You Need:

One lemon
Rich Potting soil
Pot/container
Grow lights or an area with a lot of daylight
Breathable plastic film

Planting Your Seed:

Moisten your potting soil by placing it into a bucket and mixing it with some water

Load your container with the moistened soil, leaving about an inch of space below its rim.

Cut open the lemon and look a seed that’s in proper shape

Suck on the seed so that all of the flesh is cleaned and make sure that it doesn’t dry out (it needs to be wet when planted)

Plant your seed about a half inch below the soil and water it with a squirt bottle or lightly with a watering can

Close your container with the breathable plastic to make sure that it stays warm and moist, and place it in a warm space. Make sure it is not too wet because too much moisture will cause it to rot.

Follow it for the next week or two and keep an eye on the area where you planted the seed. Once you notice the sprout, remove the plastic covering.

Once sprouted, move the plant to a warm area full of sunlight.

Caring For Your Plant:

Water it regularly, mainly when the lemon tree is young. Do not let the water build up, however, and make sure that your pot has drainage holes.

The plant will require at least eight hours of direct sunlight every day, so make sure it is positioned correctly.

As any other plant, make sure to add organic fertiliser to it when needed.

When your tree begins to get bigger, you may need to move it to a larger pot. If it gets too big for your home, you can plant it to your backyard, front porch or balcony if you live in a flat.
