Nobody wants to see pests invading their home. Critters such as ants, spiders, mice and rats are all better left outside the house. If you are just about done with all these pests getting into your house, and you are someone who does not like using strong chemicals, the following natural method is definitely something for you.
Peppermint is an ideal plant that all of the above pests absolutely cannot stand being close to. Its smell is a perfect natural pest repellant.
According to Bulk Herb Store’s Shoshanna’s Kitchen, the following are three main ways you can use peppermint to keep pests out of your home.
1. Planting Mint Outside The House
One of the best ways to deter pests is by planting peppermint in your garden surrounding your home. Once they detect the mint, they’ll start going in the opposite way.
2. Tied Sock Trick
This easy method comprises placing dried peppermint leaves in a sock and knotting the end. Place the sock near any crannies, nooks, or dark places where you think the pests are hiding.
3. DIY Spray
To make your own peppermint pest repellant spray, place some peppermint leaves in boiling water as though you were making yourself a tea. Strain out the leaves and when the solution cools, pour it into a spray bottle, and around your house and areas like under cabinets and closets.
