When most of us hear the words Epsom salt, we imagine ourselves soaking in a warm bath, detoxifying our body and muscle pain relief. And while Epsom salt is indeed a great cure for all of these above, it also offers countless benefits to your garden.

 

The Benefits of Epsom Salt In The Garden:

 

1. Epsom Salt Can Kill Weeds

If you are just about done with constantly pulling weeds out of your garden, combine a gallon of distilled vinegar, two cups of Epsom salt, and a few squirts of liquid dish soap. Sprinkle the mixture directly onto any weeds.

 

2. Epsom Salt For Beautiful Roses

For larger and color-rich roses, soak the roots of rose bushes in a mixture of Epsom salt and water, before planting them. Once the roses are planted, spray some Epsom salt around the base of the rose bush and water it. Repeat the procedure once every month.

 

3. Prevents Pests

Snails, slugs, and other pests dislike the feel of Epsom salt. Spray some around your garden to prevent them from damaging the plants.

 

4. Epsom Salt Make Fruit Taste Sweeter

Sprinkling some Epsom salt mixed in the water around the base of the plant every month or so can help contribute to the sweetness of the fruit.

If you’re planning on transplanting a plant, before planting, spray some Epsom salt in the bottom of the hole. The Epsom salt will support with transplant shock and give the plant a higher chance of thriving in its new place.

 

6. Healthier Leaves

If individual plants start to display yellowing leaves, it could be a sign of magnesium deficiency. Around the base of the plant, sprinkle a small amount of Epsom salt and water for greener, more rich leaves.
