Have you ever heard of scurvy?
This disease displays itself through symptoms such as gum bleeding, joint pain, and difficulties scarring. It’s caused by vitamin C deficiency and has been know to killed whole crews of sailors during long voyages.
Although considered rare nowadays, there were a few cases of this illness in Australia a little while ago mainly due to a diet with little variety.
Human beings, just like other mammals, are incapable of producing their vitamin C.
It’s an essential vitamin for a body and is critical to the production of skin, tendons, and veins.
It also contributes to our immune system and helps our body absorb iron.
We intake vitamins through the food we eat, but some people prefer to take supplements to obtain the recommended amount of vitamin C.
This following natural recipe will give you your daily amount of vitamin C and is also rich in fibre, and enzymes.
Taking Vitamin C this way is much better then supplements because the ingredients are natural and our body can absorb them quicker.
Ingredients
Ten organic lemons or oranges;
Instructions
In order to make this recipe you’ll only need the peel, so don’t waste the fruit itself. Instead, make fresh juice.
Blend the peels, without adding any water.
Place the blended peel in a glass dish and cook it in the oven on low heat. Stir the peel every once in a while to keep it from burning.
Best way to achieve this is by leaving the oven door open slightly so you are able to control the cooking process.
When the peel is dry and dehydrated, take the dish out of the oven and let it cool.
Blend the orange peels once again until they’ve turned into flour.
Now strain the flour and store it in a glass jar. You can keep it in the fridge in order to make sure that it lasts longer.
You can use it in juices, smoothies, teas, and soups.
Try to limit your ingestion of this flour to 1 to 3 teaspoons a day.
Not only is it great for your health, but it also makes all the food taste great.
