In order to grow your own ginger, you will need to buy ginger seed from a catalogue or garden center. Avoid the grocery store because they spray it with growth inhibitors, so while it might work in some instances, the chances are quite low.

You will need a rich potting soil that drains well. The pot you use should be wide and shallow. This is crucial because ginger roots grow horizontally.

After you have everything completed, you’re ready to grow your very own ginger supply, pay attention to the following five steps:

Soak the ginger root overnight.

Fill your pot with the soil and plant your ginger root in it with the eye buds pointing upwards.

Coat the roots with 1-2 inches of soil.

Water thoroughly.

Store the pot in a warm area sheltered from the sun.

Keep the pot moist regularly using a spray bottle. Ginger grows slowly, so give it several weeks before you see the shoots.

Growing ginger indoors its super easy and fun. It does not require any maintenance and you will have an endless supply of ginger whenever you need one. Enjoy!
