Morning Sickness May Mean Healthier, Intelligent Baby

March 20, 2019 By Mike Thurstone

Experiencing morning sickness is indeed one of the worst aspects of early pregnancy. Some women go through only mild symptoms while other women can’t keep anything down, and some don’t have it at all(lucky them)!.

If you are one of the unlucky ones with morning sickness, there’s one uplifting face — according to a study conducted recently, women who undergo morning sickness tend to bring more intelligent offspring.

According to researchers who studied 121 children between the ages of three and seven at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, it was concluded that while all children in the study scored within the normal range for development, children whose mothers had morning sickness scored higher on IQ, memory and language tests.

“[The findings suggest that] nausea and vomiting in pregnancy are not harmful and in fact may enhance favorably children’s long-term [mental development], lead researcher of the study Dr Irena Nulman explained.

While science is still unsure about what exactly causes morning sickness, it’s assumed that changes in woman’s hormonal imbalance required for placenta development may be a factor.

While unfortunately there is no cure for morning sickness, it usually only lasts throughout the first trimester, particularly between the fourth and 12th to 14th week.

However, there are a few natural methods to ease morning sickness, such as consuming ginger and continually snacking throughout the day.

For all the past and current mothers out there who experienced morning sickness during their pregnancy, be happy that your children will probably be more intelligent as a result!
