According to research, 10% of people around the world develop kidney stones at some point in life, and the newest studies shown and rise in kidney stone cases.
One of the main causes of kidney stones formation is insufficient water intake, consuming salty or sugary foods, insufficient physical activity, obesity, weight loss surgery, as well as infections or genes.
The risk of developing kidney stones rises with increased consumption of fructose-rich foods such as corn syrup and refined table sugar.
Our kidney work as blood purification stations, and when a waste starts building up, it stimulates the creation of crystals. With time, these crystals start joining together creating a large kidney stone.
With sufficient intake of water, those crystals are flushed out of the body however if kidney stones start forming, they can travel down the urinary tract into the ureter. Kidney stones are mostly chemicals, such as urate, phosphate, calcium, oxalate, cystine, xanthine.
If not flushed out in time, these crystals can lead to a back-up of urine in the kidneys, ureter, the bladder or the urethra, and causes severe pain. In very few cases, if the kidney stone are small in size, they can leave the body without you even noticing.
