March 27, 2019 By Mike Thurstone

Have you ever visited an Amish market, farm, or bakery? If yes, then you probably know that Amish people make some pretty delicious food.

Their simplicity in cooking by using whole ingredients allows them to create food that can not be found at your local supermarket.

The following recipe for Amish cinnamon bread is simple yet delicious and will most likely become an everyday breakfast choice.

To bake Amish cinnamon bread, you will need:

Dough:

  • One cup of softened butter
  • Two eggs
  • Two cups of sugar
  • Two cups of buttermilk
  • Four cups of flour
  • Two teaspoons of baking soda
  • Cinnamon sugar mixture:
  • 2/3 cups of sugar
  • Two teaspoons of cinnamon

Step 1: Mix together the sugar and butter, and then add the eggs. Next, mix through the milk, baking soda and the flour.

Step 2: In a greased loaf pan pour half of the batter.

Step 3: In a different bowl, mix the 2/3 cup of cinnamon and sugar. In each pan, sprinkle 3/4 of the cinnamon mixture on top of the batter.

Step 4: Add the leftover batter to the pans. Sprinkle the tops with the leftover of the cinnamon mixture. Swirl using a knife.

Step 5: Bake 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees F or until a toothpick comes out clean when you poke it. Let it cool for around 20 minutes before removing from the pan.

Enjoy!
