How to Regrow Celery at Home from Scraps Without Need Of Garden

November 14, 2023 By Mike Thurstone

Not only is celery an excellent addition to any recipe, but it can also be regrown from scraps at home.

This easy and rewarding project requires little effort and requires no additional resources.

This guide will teach you how to re-transplant celery using water and soil, and it will involve only a few steps.

Pick up a batch of fresh celery from the local market or grocery store.

It should have crisp and healthy stalks, and choose containers with holes for the soil and water stages. Glass jars or plastic containers are ideal.

Clean and room-temperature water is ideal for the initial stage of the plant’s growth.

You can also use a properly-draining mix for the soil phase.

Ideally, you should have a sunny area in your home that will allow your celery to receive adequate sunlight.

The outer layers of the plant should be removed before the start of the growth cycle.

Place the plant in water and submerge it in a container.

Keep in mind that changing the water every few days will keep it clean and provide the nutrients it needs.

Once the celery plants have started to emerge from its base, you can start observing new leaves.

You can transplant the plant into its container after filling it with a well-draining mix

. Then, gently move the base from the water to the soil.

Cover the container with water and place it in a sunny location. Ideally, celery will get at least six hours of sunlight a day.

In order to maintain its moisture level, the soil should be kept moist.

You can also choose to apply a balanced fertilizer to encourage healthy growth.

Follow the package’s instructions to monitor the growth of your celery plant.

When the plant reaches a certain size, it’s likely that you’ll be able to harvest the outer leaves.

The inner ones will continue growing, and you can continue harvesting as needed.

These simple steps will allow you to re-grow celery at home, whether you have no garden or not.

It’s an economical and sustainable method of supplying fresh celery to your kitchen whenever you need it, and it’s a joy to indulge in.
