6 Early Warning Signs Of Osteoporosis You Should NOT Ignore

Osteoporosis is a very painful disease that happens when your body loses too much bone tissue. It weakens our bones making it extremely easy to break even from the smallest of an accident.

Osteoporosis is frequently referred to as “the silent thief” because of the fact that bone deterioration can occur over many years without presenting any apparent symptoms.

While in most cases symptoms of osteoporosis don’t tend to manifest themselves in the early stages of the bone loss, the following are six warning signs that happen as the disease advances.

 

1. Unexpected Back Pain

Many people suffering from early stage of osteoporosis report encountering sudden, severe back pain that apparently comes out of nowhere. Even while doing the simplest of tasks, this intense back pain could be caused by a fracture in the vertebrae.

 

2. You Are Getting Shorter – Losing Height

If you’ve noticed a loss of height greater than two inches, this probably isn’t a sign of healthy aging. This could possibly be caused due to a vertebral fracture.

 

3. Irregular Periods

Some women suffering from early stages of osteoporosis report encountering irregular periods. When levels of estrogen in woman’s body is lower than usual, it can cause abnormal periods which further contributes to bone loss.

 

4. Hunched Posture

Due to a weakening spine caused by osteoporosis, you may notice that your posture is beginning to be hunched or stooped.

 

5. Frequent Fractures

One of the most apparent symptoms of osteoporosis is enduring frequent bone fractures and breaks from the smallest of the accidents that you wouldn’t typically experience an injury from.

 

6. Foot Fractures

Osteoporosis sufferers experience stress fractures of their feet from simple movements like walking or stepping off a curb.
